The African Virtual University (AVU) www.avu.org will celebrate its e-Learning 4th day at eLearning Africa pre-conference will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in Cotonou, Benin.
This year’s theme is ‘A global approach to strengthen the capacity of African universities in Distance and e-Learning’, focusing on the contribution of the Multinational AVU II project.
AVU ELearning day 4 will present the global approach of the UVA to address the innovative use of ICT in higher education to expand access to higher education. The objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity of a network of institutions and the UVA to improve higher education ICT infrastructure and to develop, deliver and manage the scientific quality of higher education and technology through e-learning programs. Supported by the African Development Bank, the project will be executed in 22 countries and will focus on research and development, the training of trainers, technical assistance in learning online and on the ‘gender mainstreaming’ strategies and policies.
