The Smithsonian’s Conservation Commons team would like to invite you to participate in our 2018 Earth Optimism digital event, #EarthOptimism2018, by joining us for our free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) Workshop on edX.org

About the MOOC Workshop

#EarthOptimism2018 is a five-session online workshop focused on identifying conservation success stories and learning to share them on Twitter. The workshop will be available to learners across the globe from April 16-21, 2018. It is currently open for enrollment at https://www.edx.org/course/earthoptimism2018

During each of the workshop’s 30-minute sessions, you will learn about a range of conservation success stories, find out how to share these stories on social media, and become part of a community of conservation supporters participating in the #EarthOptimism2018 event.

About Earth Optimism

The Earth Optimism movement wants to change the conversation about conservation. That starts with sharing today’s success stories. After a highly successful Summit in 2017, this year we want to expand the movement digitally and allow everyone to participate. In 2018, we will highlight current conservation success stories and give conservationists of all levels -from scientists and explorers to backyard composters- the opportunity to engage.

#EarthOptimism2018 is a chance for you to join the conversation on social media, and support others involved with conservation. From April 16 through 22, we invite you to share your own conservation success stories and help us elevate this to reach as many people as possible.

Please share your conservation success stories or reasons why you are an earth optimist using the prompt #ImAnEarthOptimistBecause. Tweets could be about your successful projects, conservation success stories that inspire you, photos of wildlife and nature that motivate you to be conscious of our impact on ecosystems. If you’d like to elaborate on the story you are sharing or expand it into a tweet thread, that’s great too! Just make sure to include #EarthOptimism2018 in all your posts.

We look forward to engaging with you during the #EarthOptimism2018 event either in the MOOC workshop or on Twitter. We also hope that you will pass this information along to anyone you think might be interested in joining us change the conversation about conservation.
