Marilena Cabral has joined AVU for the first time in 2013 as a Program officer, Lusophone. She was then appointed Manager Academic Programs development and delivery. Since 2015, she is Manager Academic Programs Development and Delivery and the Project Manager for the AVU Multinational Support Project Phase II.
Marilena Cabral has a PhD in Immunology from the University Paul Sabatier in Toulouse, France.
She has worked in Higher Education as a lecturer at the University of Cape Verde, where she also held different administrative positions such as coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and of the Master’s in Public Health, from 2009 to 2013.
During the different positions held at the University of Cape Verde, she also had the opportunity to work in different projects related to Health and Education at the National and Regional Level. She was involved in the development of the National Agenda for Research in Health and also was at the inception of the West African Network for Research in Health as Vice President of the Scientific Committee. She has since then developed her knowledge and interest in the area of African Higher Education Systems and how to improve them integrating Information Communication and Technology (ICT).
